LORRAINE WHELAN : PER CENT FOR ART COMMISSION,
ENNISCORTHY COMMUNITY HOSPITAL : 2008 |

Gorse Having worked with flower imagery previously (see
Blessings
work), I proposed a mosaic depicting a close-up view of gorse, a
wild shrub which grows as hedgerows throughout Ireland and would
be a familiar sight to anyone with an Irish rural background. The
mosaic was created using coloured glass affixed to marine ply. It
was then installed directly into a wall at the hospital. |
